I’ve been singing this song since I was a child. I’m now 75, and just lost my husband of 54 years. I woke this morning reciting this poem and wondered where it came from. I’m fascinated by the story of the two sisters, how Anna wrote the poem/hymn, as consolation to a dying child in her book, and how they are the only civilians buried at West Point Military Academy. It’s so fascinating!!
